ILOILO City – In a battle of beauty and brains, a 21-year-old lass stood out and won the hearts of the Ilonggos.
Jekkah May Prudente, a registered medical technologist, impressed the judges with her elegance to get the much-coveted Miss Dinagyang 2017 crown last night at the University of San Agustin gym.
In the question and answer portion of the four-hour beauty pageant that started at 8 p.m., candidates were asked how they can convince the judges to experience Dinagyang Festival.
“I will not just describe Dinagyang to them (judges) but allow them to see for themselves the Dinagyang Festival and feel the beat of the drums and fall in love with our people,” was Prudente’s concise answer.
Meanwhile, Merry Grace Tubelleja was crowned Miss Iloilo Dinagyang 2017 Iloilo City while Renee Abaygar was Miss Iloilo Dinagyang IDFI.
IDFI is the Iloilo Dinagyang Foundation, Inc., organizer of the yearly festival.
Jerah Leen Gallenero and Venice Encajonado were declared first and second runners-up, respectively.
