MANILA — Young Filipinos must exercise freedom responsibly, Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. of the Presidential Communication Operations Office said.
Coloma was reacting to the charges filed against two militant youth leaders who interrupted President Benigno Aquino III during his speech on June 27 in Iloilo City.
At least four activists heckled Aquino, shouting, “Noynoy Aquino, tuta, pasista, pahirap sa masa! Patalsikin!”
A few days earlier, a 19-year-old student activist also heckled the President during the commemoration of the Independence Day in Naga City.
“Respect for law is important,” Coloma told Panay News. “Our youth should be made aware of this principle.”
Bryan Bosque and Krisma Porquia of Anakbayan–Panay were charged by police in Mandurriao, Iloilo City with “alarm and scandal.”
Coloma hailed the filing of charges against Bosque and Porquia.
“The law enforcement officers performed their duty. Let the law take its course,” he said.
Bosque, Anakbayan vice president for Visayas, said they consider the filing of charges as “desperate and repressive.”
He said the Aquino administration was becoming desperate to stop public criticisms against its policies and governance./PN
