ILOILO City – Interior secretary Mike Sueno is here today. He is holding consultations on the proposal to label houses drug-free using stickers.
Sueno is meeting officials of various regional peace and order councils in the Visayas at a hotel on the Sen. Benigno Aquino Jr. Avenue.
He is also discussing with them other programs of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), said Regional Director Anthony Nuyda.
Early this week, Sueno had consultations with Mindanao leaders.
“We do not want to stop the war (against illegal drugs). It’s no longer the PNP (Philippine National Police) but the Peace and Order Councils from the regional down to the barangay level that will now focus on the family,” Sueno said in Manila.
The sticker strategy is deemed a nonviolent campaign.
“This is the ‘hang’ in ‘tokhang.’ Hangyu means appeal — I appeal to you, if possible, do not practice [and make sure] not anyone in your family will be engaged in drugs,” Sueno said.
Only after the local peace and order council has certified a house drug-free will it get a sticker./PN
