AFTER capturing his second consecutive LBC Ronda Pilipinas championship recently, Jan Paul Morales is now setting his sights at snaring a medal in the 29th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games on Aug. 19 to 31 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
“If the national team still wants me, I will be ready to represent them again,” the 31-year-old Morales told Buzzer Beater. “I think I still have it in me to compete in the SEA Games.”
Morales previously represented the country in several international competitions, including the biennial meet where he has reaped a pair of bronze medals in the 4km team pursuit and 10km scratch in the 2009 edition in Laos.
But he wasn’t as fortunate in road race as he was part of the team that placed sixth in the 100km Team Time Trial and 23rd in the 163km road race in Myanmar.
Still the Calumpang, Marikina City native evolved into a better road racer now and should be a force in the SEA Games, which has both road race and track events.
“I think I’m more mature as a rider now and a better one, so I will be ready for SEA Games,” said Morales, who also swept both the sprint and the king of the mountain awards in Ronda Pilipinas.

“At alam mo pa ano matindi sa kalokohan ni celebrity-sportsman? Sabay niyang ichine-check in sa hotel si misis at si kabit, magkaiba lang ng floor. Kaya si celebrity-sportsman minsan na kay misis pero mamaya-maya aakyat na doon kay kabit.
“Pero nakaraan na iyon. Nagbago na si celebrity-sportsman. Effective talaga iyong spiritual renewal niya kaya nagbalik loob na siya sa pamilya niya. Si ex-kabit niya masaya na rin sa asawa niya sa abroad.” (To be continued/PN)
