PASSI City – The Adamson University Lady Falcons stamped their dominance over the Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles after sweeping their two-game Western Visayas exhibition series that drew roaring crowds in Passi City and Bacolod City over the weekend.
Adamson first outlasted Ateneo in a tightly fought four-setter, 25-22, 25-27, 25-19, 25-23, at the City of Passi Arena on Saturday, September 20, where team captain Shaina Nitura led the charge before a raucous Ilonggo home crowd.
The following day in Bacolod City, the Lady Falcons proved more composed, cruising to a straight-sets victory, 25-18, 29-27, 25-14, at Bacolod National High School to seal a clean sweep of the friendly series.
“Gametime is bringing a taste of UAAP volleyball action closer to the Ilonggos, and in the process, we are also helping the two teams prepare for their upcoming campaigns,” said Rodolfo Go Villaruz, founder of Gametime Sports, which organized the event.
The Bacolod stop was ticketed, with prices ranging from P450 to P750, yet still drew strong turnout, while the Passi opener was free to the public.
Both schools highlighted Western Visayas talent to connect with the regional fans. Ateneo featured Negrense players Katherine Shaine Cortez, Jihan Chuatico, Alex Montoro, and Dona Mae de Leon, along with Ilongga setter Ana Hermosura. Adamson, meanwhile, bannered Nitura and Ilongga libero Athea Aposaga under Negrense coach JP Yude.
With the back-to-back wins, the Lady Falcons not only asserted their superiority over the Blue Eagles but also showcased the region’s deepening passion for volleyball./PN
