ANTIQUE – Two personnel of the San Jose police station face administrative charges for allegedly beating a 14-year-old boy in Aug. 8 this year.
They were Police Staff Sergeant John Paul Tabalanza and Police Corporal John Alfred Salvador.
Boyboy (not his real name) of the town’s Barangay 1 said he was pushing his bicycle around 10:30 p.m. when a police patrol stopped near him.
The two policemen frisked him and told him to get inside the patrol car, Boyboy said.
The police reportedly recovered a knife from the victim.
Boyboy said one of the officers boxed him inside the car.
Citing a closed-circuit television footage, the victim’s father said his son offered no resistance to the police.
The father also claimed that the cops did not immediately turn over his son to the police station.
“Nagkadto ko sa police station pero wala pa naka abot ang mga pulis kay nag libot-libot pa sila sa barangay,” he said.
On the other hand, the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) and the National Police Commission 6 (Napcom-6) are looking into the incident.
“We are conducting an investigation. We are open if the complainant will pursue the case,” said PRO-6 spokesperson, Police Lieutenant Colonel Arnel Solis.
Napolcom-6 director, Atty. Joseph Celis, on other hand, ordered the policemen to report to his office./PN
