MANILA – The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) penalized Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings forward Japeth Aguilar and Rain or Shine Elasto Painters rookie Adrian Wong for violating community quarantine rules.
PBA commissioner Willie Marcial on Monday said the two former Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles standouts were slapped P20,000 each and told to undergo swab testing not later than yesterday.
Once the swab testing is done, Aguilar and Wong would need to undergo the mandatory 14-day quarantine before taking another swab test. They will also do 30 hours of community service.
The two cagers were summoned by Marcial to shed light on the incident that took place recently. They were caught on video with Gilas Pilipinas pool member Isaac Go playing at a practice facility in the City of San Juan.
According to Marcial, Go – was spared from punishment as he is under the management of Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas for being a Gilas cadet.
“Kinausap ko si Isaac Go at sabi ko hindi kita ipapatawag,” the PBA chief said. “Sinabihan ko lang siya. Binigyan ko ng kaunting advice. Panay ang sorry niya. Magalang naman ‘yung bata.”
The Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases has given the PBA and professional football teams the go-signal to hold practices although scrimmages remain prohibited./PN
