MANILA – Akbayan, Duterte Youth, and Tingog party-lists emerged as the top vote getters in the just-concluded midterm elections, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said.
According to Comelec chairperson George Erwin Garcia, the three groups won three seats each among the 63 seats accorded to party-lists in the House of Representatives.
Seating for Akbayan are Chel Diokno, Percival Cendana, and Dadah Kiram Ismula.
Representing Duterte Youth are Drixie Mae Suarez Cardema, Berlin Baday Lingwa, and Ron Godfrey Waggawag Bawalan.
Occupying the three seats for Tingog, on the other hand, are House of Representatives Speaker Martin Romualdez’s son Andrew Julian Romualdez, Jude Acidre, and Happy Calatrava.
Meanwhile, party-list groups that won two seats each are 4Ps (Marcelino Libanan and Jonathan Abalos), ACT-CIS (Edvic Yap and Jocelyn Tulfo), at Ako Bicol (Zaldy Co and Alfredo Garbin Jr.).
Forty-eight party-list groups, on the other hand, have secured one seat each, Garcia said.
The proclamation took place on Monday afternoon except for two groups, one that have won three seats and another one with one seat, due to the pending cases against them.
Parties that received at least two percent of the total votes cast for the party-list system shall be entitled to one seat each.
Those who failed to get two percent of the votes in two consecutive elections will have their accreditation automatically removed./PN
