KALIBO, Aklan – The main office of Aklan Electric Cooperative (Akelco) in Lezo, Aklan resumed full operations on March 15 after lockdown restrictions were lifted.

The office was closed after one employee contracted coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) two weeks ago.

During the tracing, health authorities identified over 120 high-risk contacts of a former head of the Akelco engineering department who succumbed to COVID-19 related complications. Twelve employees tested with coronavirus by the molecular laboratory of Aklan provincial hospital.

The employees were isolated in facilities for the mandatory quarantine, while low-risk contacts were advised to self-isolate in their homes.

Akelco general manager Engineer Alexis Regalado said they decided to have a skeletal workforce in Lezo, Aklan for the partial operations last week.

β€œAll our workforce including virus-infected employees returned to work on March 15. Only the Lezo main office was affected by the two-week lockdown,” he added./PN
