MANILA – San Miguel Beer-Alab Pilipinas halted its two-game slide in the 2018 ASEAN Basketball League with a 126-100 win over Saigon Heat at the USEP Gym in Davao City.

Renaldo Balkman led the way with 30 points while fellow reinforcement Justin Brownlee added double-double 24 points and 13 rebounds on Wednesday night.

The Philippine-side improved to 12-6 card.

Reigning MVP Bobby Ray Parks Jr. and John Murphy Raymundo contributed 13 points each, while Bacolodnon Pao Javelona chipped in 11 markers.

Alab tallied a new league record of 18 triples in a game.

However, Alab’s lopsided victory came with a prize as veteran guard Robby Celiz was stretched off the court in the third quarter of the match after an awkward fall in a rebound play.

Holding to a slim 29-25 advantage at the end of the opening period, Alab suddenly pull away in the second period on triples by Brownlee, Javelona and Dondon Hontiveros for a 68-50 halftime lead.

The lead grew further for the Philippine team in the second half with hits from Balkman, Parks and Brownlee to build its largest lead of the game at 126-94 on a basket by Jhon Alabanza.

Maxie Esho top-scored with 24 points, Filipino-American guard Mikey Williams added 19 markers, while Akeem Scott and Moses Morgan had 15 and 13 points, respectively, for Saigon (9-9)./PN
