MANILA – After suiting up for a Thailand-based team earlier this year, Philippine women’s volleyball team mainstay Alyssa Valdez could be headed to a Chinese Taipei-based squad.

The former Ateneo Lady Eagles star revealed that she was currently in talks to play in Chinese Taipei but also considering a return to the 3BB Nakornonnt team in Thailand.

“As of now, I’m talking to Chinese-Taipei,” Valdez said in a news conference. “Pero noong nasa Thailand ako, nagtanong sila if willing akong bumalik for another stint. So, nothing is final pa naman.”

“I am talking with managers din kasi. Aside from Chinese Taipei, may ibang countries din na nagtatanong,” she added. “We’re all thankful sa lahat ng blessings na pumapasok.”

The three-time UAAP MVP was expected to be allowed by her mother club, Creamline Cool Smashers, to play as import abroad since their next appearance in the Premier V-League will be next year yet.

“We have to talk to my mother team rin, iyong Creamline. We have to fix the schedule pa para maganda iyong calendar natin talaga if ever I will play again abroad,” said Valdez.

The 23-year-old Valdez was the first Filipina volleyball player to be tapped to play as reinforcement in Thailand./PN
