Another taxi driver foils robbery attempt

ILOILO City – A knife-wielding passenger tried to rob a taxi driver yesterday in Barangay Buntatala, Jaro district.

But cabbie Harold Bryan Loredo, 43, of Barangay Tagsing, Santa Barbara, Iloilo fought back.

The robber fled.

Concerned residents brought the wounded Loredo to the West Visayas State University Medical Center.

The robber boarded Loredo’s taxi at around 4:45 a.m. in Jaro plaza and asked to be taken to Barangay Buntatala.

There, the robber declared a holdup but Loredo fought back.

Just two days ago in Barangay Tabuc Suba, Jaro a taxi driver got wounded but successfully foiled two passengers who tried to rob him.

The 35-year-old Jemly Capilitan of Barangay Tabuc Suba – driver of Kaoli Khan taxi – was treated at the West Visayas State University Medical Center for stab wounds.

The robbers boarded Capilitan’s taxi somewhere in La Paz district at around 1:20 a.m.

They suddenly stabbed the driver and declared a holdup when the taxi reached Barangay Tabuc Suba.

But Capilitan fought back and was able to open the door of his taxi then sought help from residents.

Stunned, the robbers ran away; they failed to take the driver’s money./PN
