SAN JOSE, Antique – A barangay forum, or the Kumpas sa Barangay, will be conducted in Anini-y, Antique on Oct. 12.
The forum – the third of its kind organized by the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) – will highlight the importance of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to local communities.
It will also present programs undertaken by the government to support the communities.
Mayor Maxfil Pollicar wanted the forum be conducted at the town’s gymnasium to accommodate residents from different villages of the municipality.
PIA has been emphasizing that the Philippines, as this year’s host of the ASEAN Summit, has six thematic priorities: people-oriented and people-centered initiatives, peace and stability, maritime security and cooperation, inclusive and innovative-led growth, ASEAN resiliency, and ASEAN as model of regionalism.
This year’s ASEAN theme is, “Partnering for Change, Engaging the World.”
Information kiosks will show video presentations, distribute comics and other information materials about ASEAN and government programs and services.
A total of seven ASEAN information kiosks were put up at the Evelio B. Javier Gym, Robinsons Place, University of Antique, new Provincial Capitol, Antique National School, Anini-y Central School, and Culasi municipal hall.
