At last: LTO-6 starts city plaza distribution of long-delayed plates

ILOILO City – Vehicle owners here will finally have a chance to claim long-delayed license plates as the Land Transportation Office (LTO) Region 6 kicks off its “Oplan: Stop, Plate & Go” campaign in three major plazas on August 21, 23, and 25.

The initiative seeks to fast-track the distribution of plates that have been pending for years, with priority given to registrations from 2014 to 2017 and 2022.

Plates will be released on a first-come, first-served basis from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Jaro Plaza (Aug. 21), Mandurriao Plaza (Aug. 23), and Molo Plaza (Aug. 25).

“We seek to expedite the distribution of license plates through our LTO Regional Law Enforcement Section (RLES) teams,” said LTO-6 director Atty. Gaudioso Geduspan II.

To claim their plates, owners must bring their Official Receipt (OR), Certificate of Registration (CR), and proof of payment.

Authorized representatives may claim plates on behalf of owners provided they have a signed authorization letter and valid IDs of both parties.

Launched nationwide on Aug. 4, the campaign allows LTO enforcement teams to flag down motorcycles without plates and issue them on the spot if already available.

Geduspan stressed that this approach, rather than imposing penalties, ensures fairness and transparency in the plate distribution process.

The outreach is being implemented by LTO-6 in partnership with its Regional Law Enforcement Section and Operations Division under Chief Relin Reyes. For cases where plates are not yet available, personnel will assist vehicle owners in tracking their status using the agency’s digital system.

Officials said the program demonstrates the government’s resolve to address the years-long backlog in license plate distribution and make public service more accessible./PN
