MANILA – Ilongga volleyball standout Elisha Julienne Apostol hopes to land a spot at either Ateneo de Manila University Lady Eagles or University of Santo Tomas (UST) Golden Tigresses in the future.
Speaking at the Sports Lang podcast recently, the Ateneo de Cebu Magis Eagles middle blocker said the two University Athletic Association of the Philippines-based universities are her dream destinations for college.
“Ateneo and UST are my dream schools for college if I will pursue my volleyball career,” the Iloilo City-native Apostol said. “If not, I might just focus on studies as I plan to take up a pre-med course.”
“Pangarap ko rin na makasali sa Binibining Pilipinas and other beauty pageants,” added Apostol. She previously played for Ateneo de Iloilo before transferring to Magis Eagles for senior high school.
Apostol is no stranger to Ateneo and UST with Lady Eagles head coach Oliver Almandro noticing her in a tournament before while participating in a tryout by Golden Tigresses mentor Emilio Reyes in Cebu City last year.
With still a year left in her senior high school, Apostol now wants to focus with Magis Eagles if ever there will be a tournament this year and at the same time participate in the Iloilo Models Guild.
“Time management lang,” Apostol said when asked how she balances studies, volleyball and modelling. “Kapag may modelling gig ako, I make sure na gagawin ko na ang assignments ko beforehand.”
“I always believe na education above all. I might be playing volleyball. I might be doing modelling gigs, but ang mahalaga pa rin sa akin ay ‘yung studies ko,” she said./PN
