BACOLOD City – The city council here approved on third and final reading a proposed measure requiring establishments to record their customer’s personal information in case of contact-tracing for coronavirus disease 2019 becomes necessary.
Councilor Al Victor Espino introduced this measure that will be valid and effective during the existence of public health emergency.
Under the proposed ordinance, Espino said bars and restaurants, salons, spa, barber shops, and other similar establishments are ordered record their customer’s personal details which include name, address and contact number.
This city transitioned to modified general community quarantine on June 1.
All industries and businesses were allowed to resume their operation – although at only 50 percent of their operational capacity.
The reopening of these establishments, according to Espino, had encouraged more people to avail of services after few months of being lockdown.
He said as part of the city government’s precautionary measures to fight COVID-19, it is necessary to trace or track the movements of the people by requiring them to log their name, address and contact number.
He said establishments who would fail or refuse to record or log the details of their customers shall suffer the penalty of suspension or cancellation of their business permits.
“Any person who would fail to comply with the recording requirement, or provide false or misleading information shall suffer the fine of P5,000,” Espino added./PN
