Bacolod Little League Council revival sought

BACOLOD City — Following Iloilo’s dismal performance in the World Series softball competition, the Sangguniang Panlungsod here sought to reactivate the Bacolod City Little League Council.

A resolution authored by Councilor Alex Paglumotan said that in the past, the city, through its Little League Council, actively participated in national and regional softball competitions.

Teams from Paglaum Village Elementary School, Paglaum Village National High School and Domingo Lacson National High School have gained global prominence as champions in the Little League, Junior League and Senior League World Series, in Alpenrose, Portland, Oregon; Kirkland, Washington; and Sussex, Delaware — all in the United States — respectively, said the resolution.

This was when Bacolod earned the moniker, “Home of the Little League World Champions,” the resolution said.

As Asia-Pacific representatives to the World Series, these schools placed Bacolod in the map of global sports competitions, it said.

It is a common sentiment of these schools, which had been at the forefront of the World Series, that Bacolod’s Little League Council be revived, the Paglumotan resolution said.

The council will cater to the teams’ needs, manage trainings, and lead the city’s participation in local and international competitions, it said./PN
