BACOLOD City – Mayor Greg Gasataya has approved the release of P9.44 million in Emergency Cost of Living Allowance (ECOLA) and other allowances for public school teachers and uniformed personnel assigned in the city.
The signing took place on Thursday afternoon, July 24, with the release scheduled to begin Friday, July 25.
Gasataya said the financial assistance covers 3,860 public school teachers, each receiving P2,200 per month for the period of April to June 2025.
In addition, 1,023 personnel from the Philippine National Police (PNP) and 123 from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) will receive P1,500 each for the month of June.
“These everyday heroes risk their lives, care for our safety, and shape young minds often with limited resources,” Gasataya said. “Recognizing their vital roles is a simple but meaningful way to show respect for their hard work and sacrifices.”
He also expressed his appreciation for their continued commitment and dedication to the people of Bacolod, saying, “Thank you for the dedication and service for the people of Bacolod.”
The allowance aims to provide financial relief to public servants and frontliners, especially amid economic challenges brought by recent disasters and inflation./PN
