BACOLOD City – Bacolod Tay Tung High School Thunderbolts 12-under volleyball team emerged as champions in the SK. Barangay Hibaiyo Invitational Volleyball Tournament held recently at the Hibaiyo in Guihulngan, Negros Oriental.
Behind the collective effort of the squad of head coach Roberto Calamba Jr., the Thunderbolts 12-under team took home the championship after defeating DVPMES in the finals.
Among the members of the Thunderbolts U-12 squad are Mhegan Ordaniel, Chloe Depalubos, Jeydi Panisales, Lorainne Lim, Andrea Chua, Janselle Peromingan, and Xyriz Cañete.
Completing the squad are Dubhe Medina, Micaila Gonzales, Jana Cadeliña. Ada Asin, and Cielo Palabrica. Joining Calamba as the team’s coach is Trixy Navarro
The Thunderbolts 12-under team swept their elimination round matches against Juguar (San Carlos), DVPMES(Guihulgan), Cabalasan Elementary School (Guihulgan), and Sagay City before defeating Juguar in the semifinals.
“Bilang coach nila, natutuwa talaga ako na every tournament na sinasalihan namin, may improvement ang mga players namin. Kita naman ang effort nila kaya nakukuha namin ‘yung goal namin sa tournament na ito,” Calamba said.
“But, of course, malayo pa sila sa gusto naming marating nila, step by step talaga ‘yan and I am willing to guide them and improve their games further para maging ready sila sa seniors team,” he added./PN
