MANILA – Bacolod BingoPlus vented its ire on Laguna Krah Heroes to score a dominant 77-57 victory in the OKBet Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Season 2022 on Tuesday night at the Batangas City Coliseum.
Richard Albo was hailed as the Player of the Game after finishing with 12 points, on four outside conversions, to go with two rebounds as the BingoPlus improved to 5-1 win-loss slate.
Negrense Jhan McHale Nermal chipped in 12 markers, while Bacolodnon Jeramer Cabanag contributed 11 points for Bacolod, which continued to miss the services of veteran Mark Yee and Jerome Garcia.
Bacolod surged to a 15-9 start on two triples by Albo, a four-point play and an inside hit from Cabanag. Laguna notched a 16-15 lead on consecutive hits by Mico Pallares but triples by Nermal and Arben Dionson gave Bacolod a 22-17 lead.
Bacolod widened the lead to 29-22 early in the second canto a triple by Dionson and inside hits by Aaron Jeruta and Edrian Lao but Laguna kept the match close to just be down 35-39 at the half.
Bacolod started strong in the third canto with consecutive points from Jayboy Solis and Nermal for a 52-42 lead. It grew further to 61-43 with baskets from Dionson, Nermal and Joel Lee Yu.
Three-pointers by Lee Yu and Albo to start the fourth quarter gave Bacolod its largest lead at 67-43. Laguna got some conversions but they only managed to trim the deficit to as low as 20 points.
“It’s a good bounce back win for the team after suffering our first loss against Batangas. We hope to continue this as we move closer to our home games next month,” said team manager Leo Bat-Og.
Sean Dillon Laban finished the match with 12 points, including two triples, while Virgilio Serios chipped in 11 markers as the Krah Heroes continued its struggle to drop to 1-4 win-loss slate.
The Bacolod BingoPlus hopes to notch its second consecutive victory as they battle Bataan Risers (2-1) at five in the afternoon at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City.
