Bacolod to launch MassKara Festival in Metro Manila today

BACOLOD City – The city government will launch the MassKara Festival 2025 today, September 27, in Metro Manila as part of Bacolod Day celebrations and the city’s participation in the 39th Negros Trade Fair (NTF) at the SMX Convention Center, SM Aura Premier in Taguig.

Aside from showcasing Bacolod’s crafts and culinary products at the NTF, which runs from September 23 to 28, the activity also provides an opportunity to promote the world-renowned MassKara Festival to a wider audience.

Mayor Greg Gasataya confirmed he will lead the launch together with the Bacolod Gugma Foundation Inc. (BGFI), this year’s festival organizer.

The MassKara Festival 2025 will officially open on October 1 and run until October 19, with highlights including the Electric MassKara and the school and barangay category arena and street dance competitions.

This year’s festivities will kick off in two iconic venues – the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC) grounds and the Bacolod Public Plaza.

Festival organizers announced that OPM band Silent Sanctuary will headline at the BCGC stage, performing their signature mix of heartfelt anthems and string-driven rock for festival-goers.

Festival Director Rodney Mitz Ascalon said the dual-venue setup reflects the growing spirit of MassKara as a people’s festival.

“We are bringing MassKara closer to the people. By opening both the Government center and the plaza, we make sure that everyone can take part in the grand celebration,” Ascalon said.

Organizers also teased that more artists and celebrities will be announced over the weekend to headline the grand opening, keeping fans eager for the next big reveal.

The October 1 dual-venue opening will signal the start of a 19-day celebration of concerts, competitions, cultural events, and the world-famous MassKara Street and Arena Dance Showdown./PN
