BACOLOD City – Following a five-day suspension, the head of the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO), Patrick Lacson, resumed his duties on Monday, May 13.
Lacson described the suspension as an instructive experience, recognizing the importance of consulting with key city officials before implementing decisions.
The suspension, which ended recently, arose after allegations that Lacson improperly took a government vehicle home, according to City Legal Officer Jr. Romeo Carlos Ting.
Additionally, Lacson was panned for issuing a memo that mandated traffic enforcers to meet a daily quota of five apprehensions.
During his suspension, Primitivo Tabujara, head of the city government’s Public Order and Safety Office, temporarily oversaw the BTAO.
Upon returning, Lacson announced plans to present a recommendation to Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez for enhancing street lighting and assessing the need for repairs or replacement of traffic lights.
City Legal Officer Jr. Romeo Carlos Ting confirmed the details of Lacson’s infractions and the rationale behind the imposed disciplinary action./PN
