Bacolod vaccination dry run today

BACOLOD City – Today’s coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination dry run of the city government is kicking off in Barangay Villamonte.

City Administrator Em Ang, executive director of the Emergency Operations Center, said the simulation is in preparation for the city’s vaccination program once vaccines become available for domestic use.

The simulation will follow this vaccination process:

* pick-up and transport of vaccines from the central cold storage facility and other supplies to designated vaccination areas

* actual inoculation;

* post-vaccination monitoring (at least 30 to 45 minutes) for any adverse effects

* disinfection of the venues and subsequent disposal of infectious wastes

The city’s COVID-19 Vaccination Council will spearhead the simulation exercise.

Bacolod, which has a budget of P300 million for the procurement of COVID-19 vaccines, is targeting to inoculate some 80 percent, or 491,198 individuals out of its 613,997 projected population in 2020.

The targeted population based on Department of Health guidelines will be inoculated for free, being the first step in the city government’s economic recovery program.

Bacolod has secured 650,000 doses from AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals Philippines Inc. set to be delivered by July and is also expected to receive more vaccines from the national government.(with PNA/PN)
