Bago City softball squad to play in World Series

BAGO City — The Bago City Softball Team is once again putting the Philippines on the international map. It has secured a spot in the 2025 Senior League Softball World Series in Delaware, USA, scheduled from July 28 to August 3.

The team, composed mostly of students from Ramon Torres National High School, earned the right to represent the Asia-Pacific and Middle East region after sweeping all six games in the regional tournament in Indonesia.

The Bago squad includes Erica Arnaiz, Icelle Tanaman, Larny Joy Aquino, Mary Antoinette Sicapore, Ann Dyana Buenage, Julie Ann Buenafe, Audrie Sarsona and Biel Coline Tanaman.

Also in the team are Nice Lobrido, Casandra Sumatra, Ashley Ortiz, Daniela Bejos, Maria Kimberly Alipato, Froline Manalo, Jean Scharlet Estrada, and Ashevielle Dela Cruz.

Several players in the current roster were also part of the 2023 team that won the Junior League Softball World Series title in Kirkland, Washington.

The team paid a courtesy visit to Bago City Mayor Marina Javellana-Yao recently where they received well-wishes from city officials ahead of their trip to the United States.

Those present during the send-off included Team Manager and Head Coach Francis Fuentes, Assistant Head of Delegation Leo Dayot, Department of Education SGOD Chief Orlando Cezar, RTNHS OIC Principal Mary Jane Araneta, coaches Arcel John Aligno, Alfon John Sumaria, and Vicky Rose Belleza, as well as team mothers Jullyn Benguelo and Ma. Jocelyn Denila.

The Bago City squad will compete against top youth teams from around the world in the World Series, continuing the city’s growing reputation as a softball powerhouse./PN
