‘Balasubas’

Recently, a huge company was ordered to shut down its operations. Most people sympathize and are indignant, while others treat it as a small victory.
A source told Buzzer Beater that one of those who feel the vindication is a well-known sports personality who was not given what is due for him despite a long service for the network.

According to the source, the well-known sports figure was not the only one who suffered a harrowing fate in the company.
A female newscaster was fired after giving birth even though she was on maternity leave and the same thing happened to another newscaster after having an argument with a high-ranking official.
There was also a personality who was axed for having an affair with the company’s top brass.

Member schools of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) are one with broadcast giant ABS-CBN after it was forced to shut down its operations Tuesday evening.
Minutes after the network went off-air following orders from the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) due to an expired franchise, De La Salle University’s main building lit up with ABS-CBN’s colors red, green and blue.

Ateneo de Manila University, on the other hand, lamented the NTC’s decision by saying “it deprived the Filipino people vital sources of information, entertainment and public service.

University of Santo Tomas also shared Ateneo’s sentiments. “ABS-CBN has become a constant companion of Filipinos here and abroad,” the school said.
For its part, Far Eastern University rued the timing of the station’s shutdown.
ABS-CBN’s sister station Sports and Action served as the main channel covering UAAP sporting events./PN
