
MANILA — Basilan Starhorse Viva Portmasters stretched their winning streak to five after taking down Zamboanga, 76-64, in the 2025 MPBL Season on Monday night at the Calasiao Sports Complex in Pangasinan.
Emman Calo powered Basilan with an all-around performance, finishing with 18 points, nine rebounds, and an efficient 6-of-12 shooting from the field to earn Player of the Game honors.
Gab Dagangon added 14 markers, while Sherwin Concepcion and Arwind Santos contributed 11 and 10 markers, respectively, as Basilan improved to 15-11 win-loss slate.
The Viva Portmasters displayed balance on both ends of the floor, pulling away in the second half to secure another statement victory in the South Division race.
Zamboanga, meanwhile, dropped to 17-9 after struggling to find their rhythm against Basilan’s tight defense. They were led by the 19 markers of Reggz Gabat.
Meanwhile, Pasig City crawled out of a deep pit and stunned Ilagan Isabela Cowboys, 75-67, to keep its playoff drive going.
Down by 17 points (33-50), Pasig leaned on Jacob Galicia and Warlo James Batac to seize control midway through the fourth quarter, 66-61, and tally their third straight victory for an 11-15 record.
Galicia finished game-highs 24 points, 12 in the last ten minutes, and 14 rebounds to clinch best player over Batac, who tallied a triple-double 16 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists.
Homegrown Lester Tamayo pooled 13 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists for Pasig, which dealt Ilagan Isabela its third straight defeat for a 13-14 slate.
The Cowboys, occupying the eighth spot in the North Division, drew 18 points, 12 rebounds, five assists and three steals from Arth Dela Cruz and 12 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists from Agem Miranda./PN
