BACOLOD City – In its continuing intensified anti-drug campaign, the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) seized about P1.36 million worth of suspected shabu and arrested eight individuals in a buy-bust operation in Barangay 2, this city, on October 7.
Arrested and detained at Police Station 2 were eight suspects: aliases “Ding,” 22, a single male reseller and resident of Purok Tahong, Baangay 2, Bacolod City, identified as a high-value individual; “John,” 29, single, unemployed, and residing in Purok Kadina, Baangay 29; “Ren,” 23, single, unemployed, from Purok Tahong, Barangay 2; “Ogie,” 27, single, unemployed, also from Purok Tahong, Barangay 2; “Mark,” 31, single, unemployed, resident of Purok Tahong, Barangay 2; “Ace,” 34, single, unemployed, from Purok Pilipinhon, Barangay 30; “Vincent,” 39, single, a bottling crew, resident of Purok Tahong, Barangay 2; and “Karl,” 22, single, unemployed, residing in Deca Homes Subdivision, Barangay Cabug.
Authorities confiscated from their possession approximately 200 grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated value of P1,360,000.
The Police Regional Office–Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR), under the leadership of Brigadier General Arnold Thomas Ibay, has intensified its anti-illegal drug operations in line with the ongoing MassKara Festival 2025.
According to Ibay, these heightened efforts have led to a series of successful buy-bust operations since the start of the festival, yielding millions of pesos worth of illegal drugs.
“The MassKara Festival reflects the unwavering spirit of joy, unity, and resilience of the Bacolodnons. We will never allow illegal drugs to tarnish this celebration or endanger our people. Every proactive operation we launch stands as a testament to our relentless fight against the drug menace and our steadfast commitment to keep Bacolod City safe, strong, and drug-free,” Ibay said.
PRO-NIR assured the public that heightened police visibility and proactive operations will continue throughout the MassKara Festival to ensure a safe, orderly, and drug-free celebration./PN
