MANILA – San Miguel Beermen are hungry for revenge against another team owned by businessman Manny V. Pangilinan in the upcoming PBA Philippine Cup best-of-seven finals.

According to Beermen guard Jericho Cruz, they are still hurting from their loss to Meralco Bolts last year and they want to get their revenge against their sister team, TNT Tropang 5G.

“Para sa amin, masakit talaga ‘yun eh kasi for several years San Miguel ang champion (sa All-Filipino Conference),” the Ilonggo guard said in an interview with Sports Now.

“So ngayon na from MVP group uli ang kalaban namin, pag iigihan namin, pagbubutihan namin, back to the drawing board, scouting report, more videos para maging ready kami,” he added.

For the record, the Beermen ruled the All-Filipino Conference for five straight years from 2014 to 2019 before they winning it for the last time in 2022 against TNT.

The TNT, however, won the Philippine Cup title for three straight years from 2010 to 2012 before claiming the said conference title for the last time in the 2021 Pampanga bubble.

The Beermen reached the finals after defeating sister team Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings, while the Tropang 5G toppled Rain or Shine Elasto Painters in the semis.

Game 1 of the best-of-seven championship series between the Beermen and the Tropang 5G is slated on Sunday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum./PN
