BACOLOD City – Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez has ordered the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) to thoroughly investigate the killing of a 15-year-old girl from this city who was found dead in La Carlota City, Negros Occidental on August 14.
The mayor yesterday directed the BCPO led by Colonel Joeresty Coronica to coordinate with the La Carlota City Police Station.
“I condemned in the strongest terms the tragic and senseless death of a 15-year-old Bacolodnon, Pearl Joy Galve, a Grade 10 student from Barangay Sum-ag. This heinous act is a grave injustice. We will not rest until they are held accountable,” Mayor Benitez said.
He also extended his sympathies to the victim’s family.
The mayor, in light of this tragedy, also urged young people to exercise caution when interacting with others, especially those they do not know well.
“Always inform your family members or any trusted adult of your whereabouts,” he added.
Galve, who has been missing since July 29, was found dead inside a sugarcane plantation in Hacienda San Roque, Barangay Cubay, La Carlota City.
Police said the victim was found with her mouth covered with duct tape and hands tied behind her back.
According to Captain Michael Tuburan, chief of the Bacolod City Police Station 9, the victim was reportedly last seen alive with a boy her age./PN
