ILOILO City — A group that figured in a property dispute in Boracay Island last week – resulting to the shooting of two persons – accused the island’s police of inaction.
Dr. Marichi F. Ramos of Bacolod City claimed the Boracay police failed to respond even after they called for help on Aug. 27.
“I think the local government unit is not equipped. I think the police there is also not equipped to handle these things. Mismo sila nag-ako sa amon, ‘Pasensya kay gakaipit kami di’ Ma’am.’ Nahadlok sila kay kasuhan kuno sila,” said Ramos.
In a press conference on Monday night in Iloilo City, Ramos urged Director General Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa of the Philippine National Police to look into the incident.
Ramos said she would be taking legal action for the shooting of her staff – Edlyn Padilla, 19, of Bacolod City and Roquito Tumbagahan, 39, of Ibajay, Aklan.
The two were taken to a hospital in mainland Kalibo, Aklan following the shooting around 9 a.m. of Aug. 27 at Cliff Luxury Villas.
According to Inspector Telmiji Majuk, deputy police chief of the Boracay Tourist Assistance Center (BTAC), the group of Ramos had a heated argument with the caretakers of the resort./PN
