MALAY, Aklan – The Boracay All Stars Dragonboat won at least two medals over the recently concluded 2019 Kaohsiung City Cup Dragon Boat Tournament in Taiwan.
The paddlers gave the country silver and bronze medals for the 200 and 500 meter mixed small boat category, respectively, during the international competition on Nov. 8-10.
Prior to the competition, the group suffered a huge setback on training after the Boracay Inter-Agency Task Force led by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources prohibited them for conducting training at the Boracay waters.
The training was ordered stop after seven paddlers from another league – the Boracay Dragonforce – died in a sea mishap here on Sept. 25./PN
