BORACAY – The White Beach in this island ranked 24th among the 25 best beaches in the world, according to travel website TripAdvisor.
Boracay and the Ngapali Beach in Myanmar (25th) were the two Asian beach destinations that made it to 2017 Travelers’ Choice.
“Calm, warm waters, gently sloping sand … very relaxing, possibly the most beautiful beach in Asia,” was how the world’s largest travel site described the long-stretch of the White Beach.
Baia do Sancho in Fernando de Noronha, Brazil topped TripAdvisor’s best beaches this year. Grace Gray in Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands ranked second, while Eagle Beach in Aruba ranked third.
The winning beaches were chosen based on the quality and quantity of traveler reviews on TripAdvisor in 2016.
Rounding out the top 10 are Playa Paraiso in Cayo Largo, Cuba (fourth); Siesta Beach in Siesta Key, Florida (fifth); La Concha Beach in San Sebastian-Donostia, Spain (sixth); Playa Norte in Isla Mujeres (seventh); Radhanagar Beach in Havelock Island, Andaman and Nicobar Islands (eighth); Elafonissi Beach in Florida (ninth); and Galapagos Beach at Tortuga Bay, Puerto Ayora, Ecuador (10th).
Other beaches on the top 25 list are Anse Lazio in Praslin Island, Seychelles (11th); Seven Mile Beach in Grand Cayman (12th); Flamenco Beach in Culebra, Puerto Rico (13th); Bavaro Beach in Punta Cuna, Dominican Republic (14th); and Seven Mile Beach in Negril, Jamaica (15th).
Anakena Beach in Easter Island, Chile ranked 16th, while Whitehaven Beach in Whitsunday Islands was 17th; La Cote des Basques in Biarritz, France (18th); Fig Tree Bay in Protaras, Cyprus (19th); West Bay Beach in Honduras (20th); Camp’s Bay Beach in South Africa (21st); Praia de Santa Maria in Cape Verde (22nd); and Playa Manuel Antonio in Costa Rica (23rd).
