BACOLOD City — Three Taekwondo Academy Bravehearts players won a gold medal each in the 2014 Milo Little Olympics–Visayas Qualifying Tournament at the Ateneo de Cebu in Cebu City.
Ma. Charlize Philip S. Subardiaga, Carl Lucky A. Masbano and Roem Joseph G. Ayuban will represent Visayas in the National Milo Little Olympics on October 25 in Manila.
Subardiaga of St. John’s Institute won in grade school girls’ Group 2; Masbano, also of St. John’s Institute, grade school boys’ Group 4; and Ayuban of Education Training Center School (ETCS) 2, grade school boys’ Group 3.
About 80 schools joined in the Visayas qualifying tournament organized by Milo, in cooperation with the Department of Education, from August 2 to 3.
Joem “Bong” Mercurio mentored the Bravehearts players, while Antony Hilado and Andy Perdigueros coached them.
Ricky Ballesteros was the event organizer, while Raul Luna was the tournament manager.
Meanwhile, three players from the Negros Taekwondo Union (NTU) Tigers also won in their respective categories.
They were Jamie Hanna Agaloos of Tangub Christian Academy, grade school girls’ Group 1; Davon Pecha of ETCS 1, grade school boys’ Group 2; and Caroline Dean Espinosa of St. John’s Institute, junior women’s welterweight.
