ILOILO City – Two brothers were arrested in a drug operation in Barangay Bo. Obrero, La Paz district.

Recovered from Winston Fopanda, 20, and brother Ernest Karl, 18, were four sachets of shabu.

Operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) staged the buy-bust operation around 10:30 p.m. on Monday.

At the time of the sting operation, the brothers were with friend, Errol Barcebas.

Barcebas managed to flee. As of press time, his whereabouts remained unknown.

Prior to Monday’s buy-bust, the brothers were placed under surveillance for more than a week, said PDEA regional director Paul Ledesma.

They were in PDEA’s list of drug pushing suspects, he said.

The Fopandas were detained at the La Paz police station following their arrest. They face a charge for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Barcebas will also be charged, said Ledesma./PN
