Brothers wounded in Alimodian shooting

ILOILO – Two brothers landed in a hospital after they were shot in front of their house on Magallanes Street, Barangay Poblacion, Alimodian town around 2:10 in the morning on Saturday, June 1.

The victims were identified as Jiegson Villanueva, 29, and Jessie Reign Villanueva, 19, both residents of the village.

Police said Jiegson sustained injury on his right leg while Jessie had a gunshot wound on his stomach. They were brought to Aleosan District Hospital.

The suspect was identified as Ryan Blancia, 40, of Barangay Ulan Hinablan, Alimodian, according to Police Captain Chrysler John Ledesma, chief of the Alimodian Municipal Police Station (MPS).

Ledesma said a heated argument ensued between Jiegson and Ryan. The latter later went home and returned with a gun and allegedly shot the victims.

The police chief added they are eyeing old grudges as the motive of the incident.

Police recovered five empty shells of .9 mm caliber pistol and an empty shell of .357 magnum from the crime scene.

The suspect was detained at the Alimodian MPS./PN
