BACOLOD City – Two murder suspects from Cadiz City, Negros Occidental were arrested around 11 a.m. Monday in Barangay Granada here.

Leonard “Oting” Benitez and his son, identified only as “Cokic,” allegedly killed Alexander Enriquez of Barangay Zone 2, Cadiz City.

Enriquez, 57, was found dead — his body half-buried — around 9:40 a.m. Sunday at the backyard of the Benitezes’ apartment in Barangay Zone 2, Cadiz City. His neck had been slashed.

The elder Benitez invited Enriquez for a drink on Saturday, but the latter failed to return home, the victim’s wife told the police.

Worried, the wife and some relatives went to the Benitezes’ place and found Enriquez’s body, said Edel Jose Manzano, Cadiz police chief.

The suspects exited their apartment around 8 p.m. Saturday and left for Bacolod City on board a tricycle, police said.

Police Station 5 operatives here caught them yesterday.

Police searched the Benitezes’ apartment and found a parole document, Enriquez’s slippers, a flashlight, broken bottles, a steel pipe, and a spade./PN
