
CAPIZ – Preparations are complete in this province for the upcoming local and national elections on May 12.
Atty. Salud Milagros Villanueva, provincial election supervisor, said there are a total of 539,459 registered voters, 468 voting centers and 773 clustered precincts across 473 barangays in Capiz.
“100% kita nga ready [for the elections]. We are right on track,” she said.
Villanueva also confirmed that local absentee voting has begun in three areas: the 3rd Infantry Division (3ID) of the Philippine Army in Jamindan town, 31st Division Reconnaissance Company in Tapaz, and Capiz Police Provincial Office (CPPO).
“This is to allow about 216 members of the Philippine Army and 26 members of the PNP (Philippine National Police) to vote,” she added.
Also, a total of 909 automated counting machines have been allocated for the province, with 773 units for the clustered precincts, 106 units for contingency use in the 17 offices of election officers and 30 contingency units for Comelec-Capiz.
For their part, the CPPO said they are very much ready based on the defense plan and simulation exercises conducted in all scenarios that may happen before and after the elections.
“The Capiz PNP remains steadfast in its commitment to remain apolitical throughout the electoral process. As part of its mandate, the organization will uphold neutrality and professionalism, ensuring that the 2025 elections are conducted in a peaceful, orderly, and secure manner for all citizens,” said Colonel Albert D. Tapulao, CPPO director.
The Department of Education (DepED)-Capiz, meanwhile, stated that 2,319 teachers, 468 supervisors, and 735 support staff will serve during the elections./PN
