CAPIZ – Gov. Fredenil H. Castro is pushing for the renaming of the Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital (RMPH) to Capiz Medical Center through a proposed bill in Congress.
In line with this initiative, more than 50 newly hired doctors and nurses of RMPH convened with the governor on August 19 to discuss their transition as employees of the soon-to-be-rebranded facility.
The governor stressed that the rebranding is not just about adopting a new name, but a strategic move to modernize healthcare services in the province. He said the plan seeks to upgrade hospital facilities, expand medical equipment and technology, and create more employment opportunities for Capiznons.
Another bill under consideration would authorize the Department of Health (DOH) to manage the Capiz Medical Center, a move expected to boost operational efficiency and broaden access to resources and expertise.
Gov. Castro assured the medical staff of his full support, emphasizing that his ultimate goal is to advance public health and ensure the welfare of both patients and hospital workers.
He also urged the new hires to practice professionalism and uphold good manners and right conduct, noting that their attitude and behavior toward patients are vital to ensuring compassionate and quality healthcare.
“This is more than a name change. It is part of a comprehensive plan to strengthen our healthcare system and provide Capiznons with the highest standard of medical care,” Castro said./PN
