ROXAS City – “Successful” was how the provincial government of Capiz described its recently concluded simulation exercise for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination.

Spearheaded by the Provincial Health Office, the simulation was conducted at the poolside of Villareal Stadium on Feb. 15.

It was participated by various government agencies and offices such as the Philippine Army, Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, Public Information Office and the Provincial Administrator’s Office.

The simulation aimed to identify and address possible problems that may be encountered during the actual COVID-19 vaccination, said Provincial Administrator Edwin Monares.

Capiz had identified 28 vaccination sites across the province and these included rural health units, public and private hospitals, and the poolside of Villareal Stadium.

Members of the Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine Army, medical doctors  from private and public hospitals, Municipal Health Officers and members of the media served as observers at the simulation.

The provincial government of Capiz developed its COVID-19 vaccination plan last month. It targets to cover around 70 percent (around 568,364) of the province’s population./PN
