Cargo vessels, crew survive collision

ILOILO City – Big waves resulted to the collision of two docked cargo ships at the Iloilo Strait over the weekend but luckily, both vessels did not incur much damage. Their respective crew members were all unharmed.

The seas were rough due to inclement weather, said Commodore Dominador Senador of the Philippine Coast Guard.

There was no typhoon signal over Western Visayas on Saturday but typhoon “Luis” was battering Luzon and somehow affected the weather south of the country.

The vessels were “RORO 11” carrying container vans and “M/V S China.”

According to Senador, both vessels were docked in Barangay Sulang, Buenavista, Guimaras.

“Strong waves dragged ‘RORO 11’ to the direction of ‘M/S China,’” said Senador./PN
