MANILA – Negrense volleybelle Jaschryl Casugod is headed to Manila after being recruited by the San Beda University Lady Red Spikers for the upcoming collegiate volleyball season.

The Pontevedra, Negros Occidental native joined the Lady Red Spikers after spending her high school years with the Naga College Foundation Inc. Lady Tigers volleyball team.

“The NCF Lady Tigers want to thank Jaschryl for sharing your skills to the Tigers Community. We wish you the best on your journey,” NCF said in a statement. “We are proud of you.”

With the Naga, Camarines Sur-based team, Casugod played numerous matches and seasons of BUCAL, Rebisco Volleyball League and VolleyPrep Volleyball Club Championship.

Casugod’s name rings a bell to the volleyball fans. She is the younger sister of former Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws star and now Akari Power Chargers’ Geneveve Casugod.

Jaschryl was also the fourth member of the Parley Tupas-mentored Lady Tigers to be recruited to join San Beda aside from Katleya Molina, Angel Mae Habacon and Milcah Flores.

The Lady Red Lions made the haul of recruitment in hopes of improving its eighth place finish — two wins and six losses — during the NCAA Season 97 women’s volleyball season earlier this year.

The four former Naga College Foundation volleybelles were lined up for their San Beda debut in the 2022 Shakey’s Super League tournament, which started last Saturday at Rizal Memorial Stadium.

Jaschryl was also the third Negrense from the Lady Tigers volleyball program to commit in a Manila-based school aside from Honey Grace Cordero of National University and Abigail Buenaviles Panique of Adamson University.

Overall, there were eight members of Naga College Foundation team that were recruited to Manila this college offseason aside from Shianly Colyn of Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws and Gena Mae Hora of Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles./PN
