BACOLOD City – In Barangay Inayawan, Cauayan, Negros Occidental, a man was shot.
The 46-year-old resident Robert Mariposa sustained gunshot wounds on the body, a police report showed.
Police identified the suspect as 46-year-old resident Elvie Sanipa.
According to police investigators, Sanipa and Mariposa were having a drinking spree when a heated argument ensued between them around 12:30 a.m. on Friday.
This prompted Sanipa to shoot Mariposa using an improvised firearm, police said.
The motive in the incident was not immediately established.
Mariposa was brought to the Cauayan District Hospital but was later transferred to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in this city for treatment.
Meanwhile, officers of the Cauayan municipal police station conducted a manhunt operation against Sanipa, who fled after the incident./PN
