BACOLOD City – Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) has earned an “AAA” rating from the National Electrification Administration (NEA).

General Manager Sulpicio Lagarde Jr. credited the Ceneco employees for the accomplishment.

This means Ceneco is fully compliant with financial, institutional and technical standards set by the NEA as of 2016, Lagarde said.

This was also a “vindication” for his part after his termination due to the alleged poor rating of the cooperative, Lagarde said in a phone interview.

Previously the Board of Directors said the cooperative was categorized by the NEA as “Yellow B,” with six identified failures out of seven parameters, under Lagarde’s watch as general manager.

The systems loss reached 16 percent, which was above the 14.58-percent cap, thereby exposing Ceneco to so much loss, the Board had said.

Lagarde was reinstated in April 2016 after the National Labor Relations Commission ruled that the Board illegally terminated him.

During his absence in early 2016, Ceneco also had a low rating of “Yellow II,” he said.

Ceneco has also reached a 100-percent efficiency in collection, said Lagarde./PN
