ILOILO City – CenterPhil Montessori Silver Knights cruised to its second straight win in the 2017 Bingawan Foundation Cup – Regional High School Basketball at the Bingawan, Iloilo gym.
Less than 24 hours since executing a 120-75 domination over Bingawan National High School on Sunday, Silver Knights kept its fighting form as it charged to a 106-89 win over Assumption-Passi.
Charles Daniel Sindol led the way with tournament-high 30 points, including six three-point conversions, for Silver Knights, which occupied the solo first place in Bracket A with a 2-0 win-loss slate.
Silver Knights was in control of the game from start to finish with its efficient outside shooting courtesy of Sindol and Ronald Silorio and close-range hits by Patrick Gain and Jedrick Tigres.
However, the supposed to be easy win for Silver Knights was tainted early in the fourth quarter when Sindol and Assumption’s Andoy Amora got into a commotion, resulting in their ejection from the match.
Mayor Mark Plagata Palabrica said they will review the incident and study what sanctions may be meted against the two players.
“We are not tolerating this kind of incident,” Palabrica said, adding that a “one-game suspension” is a possible penalty.
Basketball action resumes today with a triple-header featuring University of San Agustin vs Bingawan National High School at 10 a.m., Ateneo de Iloilo vs University of Negros Occidental – Recoletos at 2 p.m., and Primes vs Assumption-Passi at 3 p.m./PN
