ILOILO City – Charges have been filed against six individuals suspected to be involved in the Iloilo Supermart Jaro robbery on August 27, following an investigation by the Special Investigation Task Group (SITG).
The suspects are believed to be members of the notorious “Termite Group Visayas”.
The charges, including robbery by use of force upon things, were submitted to the prosecutor’s office.
Among the suspects identified are alias “Christopher”, the group’s suspected leader from Zamboanga del Sur; alias “Neil” from Mountain Province; alias “Iking”, the leader’s son-in-law; and three others, alias Boy, alias Junrel, and alias Abanse, all from the Mountain Province.
According to Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) director and SITG commander Police Colonel Kim Legada, security camera footage and witness testimonies were instrumental in identifying the suspects.
“In addition to CCTV evidence, seven witnesses helped confirm the suspects’ identities. The investigation revealed that they had been surveilling the area before the robbery,” Legada said.
Witnesses positively identified three suspects monitoring the vicinity prior to the crime, and security cameras captured the suspects fleeing the scene in a white van.
Legada noted that there was no prior connection between the suspects and the crime scene.
The SITG, formed immediately after the incident, continues to employ advanced investigative methods to track down the suspects, who remain at large. Follow-up operations are ongoing to ensure their capture. Authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with the investigation./PN
