ILOILO – A delivery van carrying cigarettes was held up and robbed in Cabatuan town on Friday morning, April 12.
Around P35,000 in cash was lost to the motorcycle-riding culprits.
The delivery van was driven by alias “Nonoy,” a resident of Guimaras province, when the incident transpired past 11 a.m. in Barangay Gaub.
One of the two suspects, armed with a gun, confronted “Nonoy,” then declared a hold-up and swiftly took the cash.
Authorities suspect that the crime was premeditated, with the suspects closely monitoring the victim’s activities.
“Nonoy” has been regularly delivering cigarettes and collecting payments from a stall in the area, said Captain Dioniso Estacio, head of the Cabatuan Municipal Police Station.
Estacio further mentioned that the suspects fled towards San Miguel town.
The Cabatuan police are currently gathering surveillance camera footage to aid in the investigation, while a hot pursuit operation has been launched./PN
