ILOILO City – The Public Order and Safety Management Office (POSMO) was the target of a theft early Monday morning, September 23, with two laptops reported stolen.
Jay Victor Mabilog, the officer-in-charge of POSMO, arrived at the office on the third floor of the old Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) building in Barangay Muelle Loney, City Proper, around 7:45 a.m. to find the office ransacked.
Items were scattered around the premises, raising immediate suspicion of a break-in.
Upon further inspection, Mabilog discovered that two laptops — one personal unit valued at P38,000 and an office unit worth P27,000 — were missing.
The total loss is estimated at P65,000.
The Iloilo City Police Station 1 (ICPS1) has launched an investigation to determine how the suspect gained access to the office and managed to leave undetected.
Authorities have requested the assistance of the Regional Forensic Unit 6 (RFU6) and the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) to process the crime scene.
The incident has raised concerns over security protocols at the office, highlighting the need for stronger protective measures.
Investigators are working to identify the perpetrator and recover the stolen items.
Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the theft to come forward and assist in the investigation./PN
