City gov’t to roll out ‘aggressive’ tourism campaign

ILOILO City – The city government here, through the City Tourism and Development Office, will be implementing aggressive tourism marketing and promotions campaign next year.

In the Local Development Council meeting held recently, City Tourism officer Junel Ann Divinagracia said the city will identify, develop and utilize a tourism brand for Iloilo as part of its Tourism Development Plan from 2020 to 2022.

“Iloilo City seeks to be a preferred destination particularly for MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions),” she said.

Divinagracia said the tourism sector aims to sustain and support the Iloilo MICE program as part of its initiatives to bring more visitors to the metropolis.

“At present, Iloilo City has 74 accommodation establishments and eight MICE facilities,” she said.

As part of the tourism plan, Divinagracia said that they plan to develop local tourism products and services and increase year-round experiential tourism activities.

“The city will also create initiatives to promote tourism and cultural awareness to the general public and stakeholders,” she said.

She added that the city will also sustain its compliance to international tourism standards and its global competitiveness. (With a report from PIA/PN)
