ILOILO City – All of the city government’s achievements would amount to nothing if it could not care for its constituents, according to Mayor Jose Espinosa III.
This was why the community outreach program Ang Pag-ulikid sang Syudad, Pag-ulikid ni Mayor was conceptualized, he said.
For two days last week, the program served 18,000 more residents – in Barangay Simon Ledesma, Jaro district and adjacent villages on July 28 and in Ingore, La Paz district and nearby barangays on July 26.
In Barangay Simon Ledesma, 7,000 residents – including those from barangays Tabuc Suba, Democracia, Maria Cristina, and San Roque – availed themselves of city government services.
These free services included medical checkup and medicines, tooth extraction, circumcision, anti-rabies vaccination, legal assistance, and identification cards for senior citizens.
Wheelchairs and canes were distributed to senior citizens and persons with disabilities while those with problems with their birth certificates, marriage contracts, etc. got help from the City Civil Registry Office.
In Barangay Ingore, “Pag-ulikid” served 5,000 residents plus 6,000 more from nearby Barangay Baldoza.
Espinosa said “Pag-ulikid” is a city government commitment to its residents and would be expanded further.
Aside from the City Civil Registry Office, other city hall departments active in the “Pag-ulikid” are the City Health Office, Office of Senior Citizens Affairs and City Veterinarian’s Office./PN
