Comelec-Bacolod to limit number of attendees during COC filing

For representation only.

BACOLOD City – To ensure order and safety, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) here announced that they will be limiting the number of people allowed at the venue during the filing of certificates of candidacy (COCs).

This decision comes in response to previous incidents where large crowds of supporters gathered at the Comelec office to show their backing for political candidates.

Acting City Election Officer Revo Sorbito emphasized that the commission will enforce strict crowd control measures.

“We will definitely limit the number of supporters accompanying the candidates when they file their COCs,” Sorbito stated. “As much as possible, we want to maintain peace and order during the process.”

The filing of COCs is scheduled from October 1 to October 8, 2024.

Unlike previous years, this year’s filing will take place at the Liga ng Barangay Social Hall along San Juan Street in Barangay 12, instead of the city Comelec office.

The shift in venue was requested by the city Comelec due to space limitations at their office and to provide more convenience for candidates.

The filing period will run daily, including weekends, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Meanwhile, voter registration will continue until September 30 at Robinsons Place Bacolod. No applications for voter registration will be accepted at the Comelec office in San Juan Street./PN
